The 2008 Libertarian Party of Alabama Convention is shaping up as one of our best ever, with a strong speaker lineup headlined by former Congressman and potential presidential candidate Bob Barr.

Prominent speakers for the Convention include Bob Barr, Alabama Rep. Cam Ward, former Ron Paul Field Director Shana Kluck, and Free the Hops' very own Stuart Carter.

Robert L. (Bob) Barr, Jr. was a member of the United States House of Representatives from Georgia from 1995 to 2003. Barr is now a Life Member of the Libertarian Party, and serves on the Libertarian National Committee. In addition, Barr serves as a Board Member of the National Rifle Association, and has recently advised a variety of public policy organizations, including the American Conservative Union and the American Civil Liberties Union, and practices both civil and criminal law. He recently formed an exploratory committee to run for President as a Libertarian.

Cam Ward was elected to the Alabama House in 2002. In 1993, he earned his B.S. Degree from Troy State University and in 1996 earned his J.D. from Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham. Representative Ward currently is the Executive Director of the Industrial Development Board of Alabaster. He serves on the Board of Directors for Leadership Shelby County, the Alabaster/Pelham Rotary Club, the Greater Education Foundation of Shelby County, and CASA of Shelby County. He is the Sponsor of HJR 13, which opposes REAL ID in Alabama.

Shana Kluck served as both the Alabama Field Coordinator and the National Homeschool Coordinator for the Ron Paul campaign and currently is involved in establishing a new organization called National Liberty, as well as its state affiliate, the Alabama Liberty Alliance.

Stuart Carter found himself in Alabama missing the fine beers of his Scottish heritage and created the now infamous Free the Hops movement.
